Icelandic® was incorporated in 1947, and its main business was the importation and sale of frozen fish products from Iceland.

Iceland Seafood Corporation began business in 1951 in New York City as a marketing office. At that time, no fish processing was done in the United States.  Fish were imported from Iceland and sold to American companies.

Icelandic® started processing seafood at its plant in Cambridge, Maryland in 1954.

By September of 1997, Icelandic Seafood Corporation headquarters was re-located to Newport News, Virginia. In 2005, Icelandic® and Samband of Iceland Corporation (formerly Iceland Seafood Corporation) merged under the name Icelandic® USA, Inc.
